17: David Holmes opening statement, impeachment inquiry testimony

Continuing the series of episodes following the House impeachment inquiry and focusing on the opening statements of testimony, David Holmes testified in the morning of Nov. 21, 2019, before the House Intelligence Committee.

Mr. Holmes, a career Foreign Service Officer, testified that he was present when Ambassador Gordon Sondland spoke directly with President Trump on July 26—the day after President Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Zelensky. See episode 4 for a reading of that phone call.

The next episode will focus on Sen Ron Johnson’s statement that he provided after a request from House Republications Jim Jordan and Devin Nunes. Sen. Johnson’s name came up on multiple occasions and the two Congressmen have asked for the senator’s first-hand accounts of his role and attempts in trying to get the hold released for military assistance to Ukraine.
